Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those [clouds] carrying a load [of water] 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 They ask, "When it will be the Day of Judgment?" 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty, 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 So by oath of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this Qur’an is the Truth, in the same language that you speak. 23
