a good many of olden times, 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 BUT AS FOR those who have persevered in evil - what of those who have persevered in evil? 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin of disbelief. 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers - 51 you shall eat (the fruit) of the Tree of Zakkum. 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 and will thereupon have to drink [many a draught] of burning despair 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Have you thought about what (sperm) you ejaculate? 58 Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We! it is We Who have decreed death unto you all. And We are not to be outrun. 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 Nay, but we are deprived! 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Therefore, O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him, proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
