These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 and persisted in the great sin 46 They used to say: “What! Once we are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, shall we still be raised to a new life from the dead? 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 Then you, the erring ones and those that gave the lie to the Truth, 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 and shall drink boiling water on top of that. 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 Have you considered what you sow? 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 Indeed, we have been deprived of the fruits of our labour." 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. 74
