He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fearfully, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
