The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
