And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
