In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the loosed ones successively 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 And scatter (things) far and wide; 3 Then by those that clearly differentiate the right and wrong. 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 To end all argument or to warn. 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 and the mountains scattered, 10 and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time -- 11 for what Day has this been appointed? 12 To the Day of Decision. 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 We shall then send the latter after them. 17 This is how We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 Which We laid up in a safe abode 21 for an appointed time? 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle. 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and given you fresh water to drink? 27 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 28 Depart to that you cried was lies! 29 Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 that shoots sparks like dry faggots, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 that Day on which they will not [be able to] utter a word, 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 So if you have a plan, plan against Me (now). 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
