The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
