The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 And orchards and springs. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
