The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ THE MOST GRACIOUS 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 He created the human 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 And the plants and the trees prostrate (for Him). 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
