The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
A caller supplicated about a punishment to fall on 1 Upon the disbelievers – the punishment that none can avert. 2 from punishing them. He is the Lord of the Ascending Stairways, 3 by which the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him in one Day which will last for fifty thousand years. 4 Wherefore be thou patient with a becoming patience. 5 They see the (Day) indeed as a far-off (event): 6 While we behold it nigh: 7 The Day that the sky will be like molten brass, 8 And the mountains will be like wool, 9 even intimate friends will not inquire about their friends, 10 though they may see each other. A sinner will wish that he could save himself from the torment of that day by sacrificing his children, 11 his wife, his brother, 12 And the nearest of his kinsfolk who gave him shelter, 13 And all those who are on the earth, to save himself. 14 By no means! Verily, it will be the Fire of Hell! 15 will strip-off the flesh 16 and it shall call him who withdrew and turned his back 17 who amassed and hoarded. 18 ۞ Surely man was created fretful, 19 Irritable (discontented) when evil touches him; 20 And when good touches him, withholding [of it], 21 Save worshippers. 22 who are constant in prayer; 23 In whose wealth a due share is included 24 for the impoverished nonrequester and the requester, 25 and who accept as true the [coming of the] Day of Judgment; 26 And those who are fearful of the chastisement of their Lord-- 27 Lo! the doom of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure - 28 who guard their privates 29 Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed - 30 But whoso seeketh more than that, those are they who are transgressors; 31 and those who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges; 32 And those who are in their testimonies upright 33 And those who keep a guard on their prayer, 34 It is these who will be honoured in Gardens. 35
