The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The rebels' abode, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
