The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and the night that falls, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
