The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
