And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
