The people of the Wood too called the messengers liars. 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 I am for you an honest Messenger. 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, do not be among the cheats, 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 185 “You are just a human like us, and indeed we consider you a liar.” 186 Let a part of the sky fall on us if what you say is true". 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191
