So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Do they say, "He is only a poet and we are waiting to see him die!?" 30 say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" -- 31 Or do their intellects bid them do this? Or are they an insolent people? 32 What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith. 33 Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth! 34 Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact, they have no strong faith. 36 Or do they have your Lord's treasures in their keeping? Or have absolute authority over them? 37 Or, do they have a ladder on which they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or do you demand any wages from them so that they are burdened with expense? 40 Or possess they the Unseen so that they can write (it) down? 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols. 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from heaven, they would say, 'A massed cloud!' 44 Therefore leave them, until they confront their day, in which they will be stunned. 45 the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour. 46 And indeed for the unjust is another punishment before this, but most of them do not know. (Punishment in the grave is proven by this verse.) 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 And in the night also hallow Him, and at the setting of the stars. 49
