The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a few from later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
