Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a lofty garden, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
