Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets laid out, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
