The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
