The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
