The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
