And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 But when your Lord said to the angels: "I am verily going to create a human being from fermented clay dried tingling hard; 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
