I told them, "Messengers, eat from the pure things and act righteously; I know all that you do. 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 But people have cut off their affair (of unity), between them, into sects: each party rejoices in that which is with itself. 53 So leave them in their intoxication till a time. 54 Do they think that by what We aid them with of wealth and children, 55 Are quickly giving them goodness? In fact, they do not know. 56 Only those who are, out of fear of Him, humble before their Lord, 57 And those who believe in the signs of their Lord – 58 Those who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord; 59 Who give whatsoever they give (in His way), and their hearts tremble with fear that they have to go back to their Lord, 60 Are the ones who hasten to goodness and outpace the others. 61 We charge no soul with more than it can bear. We have a Book with Us which speaks the truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 Yet their hearts are oblivious of this; and besides, they are busy with other things, 63 But when We will strike with torment those (unbelievers) who are rich, they will start to cry for help. 64 [But they will be told] "Cry not in supplication today; for, behold, you shall not be succoured by Us! 65 My signs were recited to you, but upon your heels you withdrew, 66 Insolently, treating them like tales told at night." 67 Why did they not think over the message? Or has something come to them which had not come to their fathers? 68 Or, is it because they do not recognize their Messenger that they denied him? 69 Or do they say, 'He is bedevilled'? Nay, he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse from the truth. 70 If the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay, We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition. 71 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers. 72 And most surely you invite them to a right way. 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are from the path deviating. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 until We opened the gate of greater torment (death) and they suddenly found themselves in despair. 77
