The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
