The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And couches raised up. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
