Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by this city (Mecca) – 1 And thou art an indweller of this city - 2 and I swear by the parent and his offspring: 3 We have indeed created man surrounded by hardships. 4 Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? 5 He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 and guided him on the two highways? 10 But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep. 11 And what have you understood, what the valley is! 12 (It is) the setting free of a slave, 13 Or, feeding, in a day of privation, 14 an orphaned relative 15 Or to the poor man lying in the dust. 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 These are the People of the Right Hand. 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
