The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
