Thamud (people) belied the Messenger. 141 when their brother Salih said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 142 Truly, I am a trustworthy messenger for you, 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 For this I ask of you no wage; my wage falls only upon the Lord of the Worlds. 145 Will you be left secure in this, 146 In gardens and springs. 147 And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit? 148 "And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill. 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 and do not follow the biddings of those that go to excesses 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and reform not." 152 They said: thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 You are nothing but a man like us. Bring us a token if you speak the truth." 154 He said, "Here is a she-camel. She shall have her turn of drinking, as you have yours, each on an appointed day, 155 "Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you." 156 They slew the she-camel, but later became regretful 157 and the chastisement seized them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 159
