And a sign unto them is the dead land. We quicken it and thereout We bring forth grain, so that thereof they eat. 33 We made in it gardens of date-palms and vines, and We caused springs to gush forth 34 so that they may eat of the fruit thereof, though it was not their hands that made it. Will they not, then, be grateful? 35 Hallowed be He who hath created all the pairs of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves and of that which they know not! 36 And a sign for them is the night, We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness. 37 The sun is running its course to its appointed place. That is the ordaining of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. 38 And the moon! For it We have decreed mansions till it reverteth like the old branch of a palm-tree. 39 It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law). 40 And [it ought to be] a sign for them that We bear their offspring [over the seas] in laden ships, 41 And have created for them of the like thereof whereon they ride. 42 And if We will, We can drown them, so there would be no help in their distress, nor would they be saved. 43 It is only Our Mercy (that rescues them) and enables enjoyment of life for a while. 44 And when it is said unto them: fear that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy, they withdraw. 45 Never came a token of the tokens of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it! 46 When they are told to spend for the cause of God out of what He has provided for them for their sustenance, the disbelievers say to the believers, "Should we feed those whom God has decided to feed? You are in plain error." 47 The unbelievers say, "When will the Day of Judgment come if what you say is at all true?" 48 They await only but a single Saihah (shout, etc.), which will seize them while they are disputing! 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
