(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. 75 And We rescued him and his household from the great calamity. 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 And left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations to come in later times: 78 Peace be upon Noah among all the nations. 79 As such We recompense the gooddoers, 80 he was truly one of Our faithful servants. 81 Then We drowned the others 82 ۞ Abraham was of the same faith: 83 when he turned to his Sustainer with a heart free of evil, 84 and when he said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship? 85 Is it a falsehood-god beside Allah that ye desire? 86 Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?" 87 And he cast a glance at the stars, 88 and said, "I am sick!" 89 All the people turned away from him 90 Then he turned aside to their gods secretly and said: What! do you not eat? 91 What aileth you that ye speak not? 92 And he turned upon them smiting them with his right hand. 93 whereupon people came to him running. 94 He said: worship ye that which ye carve. 95 when it is Allah who created you and all that you do' 96 They exclaimed: "Build a pyre for him, and cast him into the blazing fire!" 97 And they designed a snare for him, but We made them the undermost. 98 And he said: verily I am going to my Lord who will guide me. 99 "O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!" 100 We gave him the good news that he would have a patient, forbearing son. 101 And when (his son) was old enough to walk with him, (Abraham) said: O my dear son, I have seen in a dream that I must sacrifice thee. So look, what thinkest thou? He said: O my father! Do that which thou art commanded. Allah willing, thou shalt find me of the steadfast. 102 And when they had both submitted, and his son had laid down prostrate upon his forehead, 103 We called to him, "O Abraham, 104 You have fulfilled your dream." Thus do We reward the good. 105 Indeed this was a clear test. 106 And We ransomed him with a tremendous sacrifice, 107 And We left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 108 "Peace upon Abraham." 109 That is how We recompense the righteous: 110 Surely he was one of Our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaque (Isaac) a Prophet from the righteous. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. And of their seed are some who do good, and some who plainly wrong themselves. 113
