The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth We have readied chains and shackles, and a blazing flame 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
