The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 On a grievous day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A written record, 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
