Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together: 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 (satan) said: 'My Lord, for Your perverting me, I shall make (matters) in the earth seem most fair to them and I shall pervert all, 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 Allah said: this is the path leading unto Me straight. 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
