۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
