Nay, by the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to mortal man 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 except those of the right hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
