Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ By the Day of Resurrection, 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 on that Day man will ask, "Where can I escape?" 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 And he knoweth that it is the parting; 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
