The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
