The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
