The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
