The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 for they are bent on giving it the lie, being always wont to follow their own desires. Yet everything reveals its truth in the end. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
