Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite until an appointed term. Indeed when Allah's appointed term comes, it cannot be deferred; if you only knew!” 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 But all my calling doth but add to their repugnance; 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 Then indeed I called them openly; 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 And I have said: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving. 10 He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance 11 And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp, 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 He will make you return to it and then take you out of it again. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
