The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
