The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars darken, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas rise, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 The closing night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
