We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 Said he, 'I would never bow myself before a mortal whom Thou hast created of a clay of mud moulded.' 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 Seven gates it has, and unto each gate a set portion of them belongs.' 44
