This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 It has been revealed through the trustworthy Spirit 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayst be (one) of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign unto them that the learned among the Children of Isra'il know it? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years, 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So do not call upon another god with Allah, lest you should be one of those who are punished. 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. 215 Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do." 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
