Seest thou one who turns back, 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 and that everyone shall have in his account only that which he worked for, 39 He will certainly see the result of his labor 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 and that it is He who gives wealth and riches, 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 and covered them with torment. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
