The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
