The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 on a Great Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 a written record, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
