And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
